Wedding

wedding cakeWe got married the day after Christmas, in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the Casa da Fazenda. The best part of the wedding (aside, of course, from the whole bit about getting married) was that my mom did all of the planning while we just got updates here in California.

For anyone who’s planning on getting married, I highly recommend this approach.

marau beach houseWe were not as smart when planning for our honeymoon. We decided that since we had friends and family flying from the US, that we’d all go up to my parents house in Bahia.

That was actually a great idea, their place is awesome and it felt like being in paradise.

The bad part was that we decided to rent a bus to get all of us there so that our guests could see other parts of Brazil.

The drive up took three days, we couldn’t stand the sight of the bus by the end of it. Luckily, we had planned to fly back to Sao Paulo.

Casa da Fazenda

284074352203_0_ALB We’ve decided to have the wedding ceremony/reception at this old farm house (which is actually in the city). I grew up very close to this house and we would always drive by it when going to school. The place was falling apart for several years and was recently restored and turned into a museum.

The picture above isn’t all that great but they have some nicer pictures at their site. You may want to click on Pular Introducao (Skip Intro), then you need to wait for the top menu bar to load, and finally you can click on Galeria:

  • Galeria de Fotos Antigas will show you pictures of the house from when it was first built.
  • Galeria de Fotos da Reforma will show you the renovation photos.
  • Galeria de Fotos Atuais will show you what the house looks like now.

You can click on each picture to see a larger version.

marisamarisaSpeaking of dresses, I took advantage of my mom being here to go get my dress. We ended up having to custom order a dress since we liked two different ones. The final dress will look similar to the one of the left but with an empire waist and the cafe waist wrap from the dress on the right. Unfortunately I won’t get to see it until early November so hopefully it will come out ok.

Now that everyone is gone, I will try to catch up with my postings.

We went to Sofia’s wedding on 7/10. It was great. She did an amazing job planning for it in such a short time. They picked the most amazing location in San Francisco. The view is incredible but you need to look at the virtual tour to see it. Her dress was also beautiful!
